Robber Fly??? - Holcocephala
Along Crooked Creek Road above the NE section of Lake Monre, Monroe County, Indiana, USA

Size: approx. 1/8th in
Take the measurement I included as a rough estimate (could be smaller). It was sitting on a really small blade of grass and my camera was literally on top of the little fella.

Had no clue what this might be and after looking through the site I am partially leaning towards Robber Fly, but not knowing much about them was looking for any info. Even better if I could find out specifically what type it is!

Holcocephala
Because of the many fine shots of this genus here on the site, I believe there are more people here who can identify this fly by sight than anywhere else on the planet. See the comments on fusca vs. abdominalis at the collection of fusca shots.
