Canthon - Canthon viridis

Canthon - Canthon viridis
Tippecanoe County, Indiana, USA
August 16, 2006
Size: ~ 4.5 mm
I'm pretty sure its Canthon viridis. Has one spur on hind tibia, first tarsal segment on hind leg shorter than second, and clypeus is bidentate. Has a general purplish sheen.

(Attracted to trap with human dung.)

Most (that I've seen) are really 'green' - as the name viridis implies, but they do vary. This was until recently Glaphyrocanthon sp., now a subgenus.
