Size: 1.75"
I caught this giant water bug on my front porch and placed him in our bug cage so that I could show him to my kids in the morning. Once I shut off the porch lights he grabbed this leaf and flipped over underneath it. It makes a pretty good hiding spot for the night. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Sorry about the angle but it was the only way I could take the picture.

Moved from ID Request.

I can't help with the behavior
but the giant water bug is Lethocerus americanus, and the dead cricket in the other photo is a female Gryllus veletis.

Interesting behavior. I'll be interested in what others have to say.
