I found this spider crawling within some vegetation and woody debris. It was in the afternoon. After looking in "The Golden Guide to Spiders and their kin" and reviewing the Bug Guide web site I am guessing it is a wolf spider in the Lycosidae family, genus Trochosa. But I am a rank beginner in identifying these fabulous creatures.
