is what it looks like to me :-)

Not that it makes much sense...
...but it looks as if their antennae have become tangled. Were they near foliage of any sort?

No, they were on the side of my house. On the foundation just below the siding. One of my images does show another bug off to the side, but it's much smaller (I didn't even know it was there until I looked at the picture on the computer) and VERY out of focus. Should I add that image to the mix?

I am not sure what happened there but they are Stoneflies (order: Plecoptera).
