Scolopendra viridis ?? - Scolopendra polymorpha

Scolopendra viridis ?? - Scolopendra polymorpha
Sheridan, Placer County, California, USA
May 20, 2014
Size: 1 inch?
found in the bedroom in a house in the country. Surrounded by fields. Weather was changing from warm to cool. No rain in weeks. Found in the morning on a carpet near a floor chest that was rarely moved. Nearly no movement. I think it is Scolopendra viridis. Other centipedes have been found that were much larger.

Scolopendra polymorpha
S. viridis does not appear to be found in California, according to Shelley's 2002 synopsis of the scolopendromorpha (highly recommended reading). S. polymorpha is thus the only logical choice. Both do get quite large.
