Is this a salticid? Found in a fairly verdant area of brush and herbaceous growth near small creek.

"Johnson Jumper", cute name :-) Good to learn what this is...I like salticids, though I very know little about spiders.

I noticed the info page has lots of good reference material, so I can learn much more than the just the name...which is great. Among other things, there's a detailed paper on the life history of this species, based on studies of populations in a number of familiar locales in my neck of the woods:

I gather this is a male, from the solid red-orange dorsum of the abdomen (or "opisthosoma" :-).

Thanks again...now when I see these in the future I'll have a much greater appreciation of them :-)
