Melyrid larva?

Melyrid larva?
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
January 10, 2007
Size: about 4 mm
Interesting fleshy lateral extension (must have a technical name) with spiracles above it. Here the larva, perhaps frustrated at the lack of hiding places in the brightly-lit light arena, is tearing at a piece of debris with its mandibles.

Also guess so
Dear Jim,

really looks like a melyrid larva (subfam Malachiinae?)!

Thanks for confirming, Boris.
