Moth in Rose - Galgula partita

Moth in Rose - Galgula partita
garden, Alameda, Alameda County, California, USA
May 22, 2014
Size: ~3/4"
Flew into rose bush ~9;45 AM and moved into shade near bottom. Just coincidence, or does white fringing at back of wing in second photo mimic the angle and lighter shading of top of thorns? (2d photo rotated approximately 90 degrees counterclockwise to make moth a little easier to interpret.)
