Cixiidae
These are excellent pictures of small insects that most people (including myself) seldom see. They are root-feeding immature bugs of the planthopper family Cixiidae, recognizable by the curved pairs of plates on the last 3 segments of the abdomen that bear wax-producing glands (they look like rows of longitudinal grooves in this photo).
