subtropical moth - Xanthopastis timais

subtropical moth - Xanthopastis timais
Jamaica, Ocho Rios County
April 11, 2001
Size: 50mm
I know this will be frassed eventually as it's from Jamaica, but since Caribbean species often wander up to Florida, and since this is a fairly distinctive pink-and-gray moth, I thought I'd post to see if someone might recognize.

10640 -- Spanish Moth -- Xanthopastis timais
Resident in southern Florida and perhaps at some points along the Gulf Coast. Strays northward to about New York. Here's a Florida photo I took last November at Anhinga Trail, Everglades National Park. If you need it for researching other photos, this is a very good site for finding Moths of Jamaica

thanks
for the ID. And for the tropical moth link. Alas, I'll need to go back to Jamaica and do some more collecting in order to make use of it...
