Orb Weaver (Araneidae), Argiope sp) ID please - Argiope aurantia
Skidaway Island, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA
May 26, 2014
Size: Rather small
I photographed this Orb Weaver on Dill (Anethum graveolens), positioned on web head down. I turned on my portable stool to photograph a Hover Fly-couple of minutes later looked back and it had encapsulated a victim in silk. I photographed her (?) as she carried victim back to the web. It seems rather small when I recall previous Orb Weavers. ID please?

Hot damn! That is what I originally identified it, but dropped back, as I so often place my foot in my mouth. Best route is to go with the genus and rely on you impressive and dedicated "Contributing Editors"

Thanks, you made my day!
