Scarab Beetle - Anomala undulata

Scarab Beetle - Anomala undulata
Neshoba County, Mississippi, USA
Attracted to lights. Seems like this one would be easy to identify. Body form looks like a May Beetle, though it also resembles some photos of the genus Anomala. The light-colored sides of the pronotum seem kind of distinctive.

Muddling the whole thing is the fact that the beetle's flight wings seem messed up. Usually you see flight wings poking through the elytral suture, but I'm not sure what is going on here—it looks more like the flight wings are stuck to the elytra from the lateral margins rather than the suture.

Not sure what's going on with those wings and anyhow I haven't been able to come up with an ID beyond saying Scarabidae! Any help appreciated.

Anomala sp.
The wing covers are actually transluscent in this specimen (and many specimens of scarabs and other beetles that I have seen), so nothing at all is wrong with this picture:-) Anomala is one of the most speciose genera in the entire animal kingdom, so good luck getting beyond genus level:-)

Thanks, Eric!
That had crossed my mind, but I had never heard of translucent elytra. Neat! Thanks for clarifying, and for your words about Anomala. For now I am happy to call it Anomala sp.
