Eyed Click Beetle with grub - Alaus oculatus
Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, USA
January 15, 2007
I found these in a tree inmy yard that is rotting. The beetles had created these amazing chambers in the trunk of the tree. I will upload a shot of the chambers too. I was wondering what type of beetle I had uncovered until I picked it up and it clicked making me jump!

Nice larva
I've never found an A. oculatus larva anywhere near that big.
