Coelidia olitoria nymph - Jikradia olitoria

Coelidia olitoria nymph - Jikradia olitoria
Repentigny, Lanaudière County, Quebec, Canada
June 19, 2006
2 pictures of the same nymph, taken a few seconds from each other. The nymph tilted from one side to the other, over and over.
I wonder why leafhoppers often do that.

January 17th
I have replaced my photomontage of 2 pictures side by side by a better one, done by Andy Hamilton. It shows very well the leafhopper movement. Thanks Andy, well done!

Jump!
I've noticed that ton in leaf-hoppers as well as grasshopper & other jumping insects. I think they're trying to size up the distance to their next target (target like a sight to travel to, not target as in prey) before they take a jump.
