gray and brown planthopper? - Synecdoche impunctata
Karner Blue Sanctuary, Lambton, Ontario, Canada
July 31, 2004
Not even sure this is a homopteran but don't know where else to put it. Length 3-4 mm; on leaf of unidentified shrub in dry oak woods.

a fuzzy photo (too bad!)
of Synecdoche impunctata (Achilidae)

Achilidae?
Cool! I think this is something in the family Achilidae, but I am just learning the group formerly known as Homoptera:-) Any more shots (um, in better focus)?

Achilidae?
Unfortunately this poor shot is the only one I have. I'm finding that's the case with a lot of my summer photos because there's often one or more other bugs "competing for attention" - unlike spring and late fall when not much else is happening and multiple shots from different angles are standard. Thanks for the pointer to Achilidae; see the first image on this page from Japan; the grayish wings look good and even the placement of the whitish spots match up.

Achilidae
Thanks for the link:-) Not the same species, probably not the same genus, but I think we have arrived at the correct family:-)
