Southern Emerald Moth, Dorsal View - Synchlora frondaria Beverly Hills, Citrus County, Florida, USA January 20, 2007 Size: Wingspan approx. 25mm
Photographed shortly after 4 PM on the window of our local post office. Not long afterwards, one of our law enforcement agents caught up with me at the nearby retention pond: seems someone reported my picture-taking as "suspicious behavior." I told him what I was doing and showed him my pretty moth (and robins, and palm leaves, and...), and we both went on our merry ways.
Well, the post office is federal property, but its window is much beloved of the neighborhood insects. As I told Mary when I got home, being nabbed by the cops must make me "a real photographer" now! (Grin.)
