Hmm...
Unless you can make it walk or fly (or at least show me some appendages), I'm gonna say that looks more like an egg mass than a moth.

Thanks Ken. After some poking and close examination with a jeweler’s loupe, I think you’ve called it. It certainly looks like “ova art”. I apologize for the false alarm.
I wonder what species did it? I’ll try to leave the eggs in place and see what develops, if anything.
