Large jet black spider - Ummidia

Large jet black spider - Ummidia
Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia, USA
June 14, 2014
Size: About 1 inch
Can you help me ID this large black spider? I found it walking along the brick trim work of my house under a tree. It did not seem overly aggressive or scared, as I was able to snap about 20 pictures without it fleeing or trying to bite. An important fact to note: three days ago we had long-needle pine straw spread throughout our yard. This spider was found on the brick trim of the house just above a large planting bed with freshly spread pine straw. Perhaps it was transported to my house in the straw....
