Thanks for posting, they do look very similar.

 
Brown on brown moth
This was found in inland marine sandhills habitat; any chance it's an endemic species? There are many plants and the Zayante Band-winged grasshopper uniques to the area.

Cosmia calami?
That was my first thought, but I can't find any examples of one with a dark median area like yours. James Adams, Ken Childs, and Paul Dennehy also suggested Cosmia calami.

 
surely a mistake
I'm certainly no expert on this genus or species, but this identification is surely an error. No other illustrated specimen of this species even remotely resembles this moth.

 
Could this be an introduced species of Cosmia?
The images of Cosmia trapezina here look close.

 
This one never sat well with me.
I don't have a better suggestion as to what it is. I'll move it back to the family page for now.
