Brown on brown moth
This was found in inland marine sandhills habitat; any chance it's an endemic species? There are many plants and the Zayante Band-winged grasshopper uniques to the area.

Cosmia calami?
That was my first thought, but I can't find any examples of one with a dark median area like yours. James Adams, Ken Childs, and Paul Dennehy also suggested

surely a mistake
I'm certainly no expert on this genus or species, but this identification is surely an error. No other illustrated specimen of this species even remotely resembles this moth.
