this is definitely dasymutill
this is definitely dasymutilla. it could possibly D. mutata, or cypris, but I was talking with an expert Kevin williams and he said that its probably a color variation of one of them. we'd need to do DNA testing to find out.

As I recall,
there were quite a few of these where I took the photo. I could look for them again next year and get more photos or a specimen for DNA testing.

I think Utah might be interes
I think Utah might be interested some specimens. All the species mentioned might be variations of a species called D. quadrigutta. they haven't gotten around to comparing their DNA yet apparently.
