Copestylum hagii? - Copestylum hagii - female

Copestylum hagii? - Copestylum hagii - Female
Huntington Botanical Gardens, San Marino, Los Angeles County, California, USA
September 24, 2006
Followed this fly around for some time at Huntington. It looks like C. hagii identified by Martin Hauser: color of abdomen, wings (including the darkened cross veins), hairyness of scutum (cf. with 1 ). However, I might overlook something which Martin or others experienced with this genus would notice.

I agree, it is a female of C.
I agree, it is a female of C. hagii! Great fly....

Thank you, Martin,
for confirming the ID. I thought it interesting to see this species in the valley (San Gabriel), after having photographed a male a year earlier at ~7000ft in the San Gabriel Mountains. So its probably a fall fly?
