Robber? - Chrysopilus

Robber? - Chrysopilus
Barkhamsted, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
Is this fly in the Robberfly family? Could anyone pin down the species, please?

Reminds us a little of
Chrysopilus ornatus - Ornate Snipe Fly. You might look in the guide around the snipes here

Snipe
Thanks to all of you. Jane, John, and Herschel. I looked at the Ornates and they are very close. I believe that is it. Right about Robbers with the head and eyes being in dip . Great!

Snipe
As the quick and accurate Balabans have noted. From this angle all robbers would have at least a small dip between the eyes which is a character for the group.
