Wasp - Eupelmus messene - female

Wasp - Eupelmus messene - Female
Deane, Letcher County, Kentucky, USA
June 23, 2014
Size: 2.5mm
This little Wasp dose flip flops to escape, I have never seen one do this. I had to catch it over and over to get a picture. It flopped so many time it got a catch in its giddy up and stayed stuck in a bent position for about a minute. After squirming around it got lined back out.
Found in sweep net.
Feel free to frass any images.

Eupelmus…
Nice catch, Lisa.

Thanks.
Do they always flip flop like that? It could go almost 8 inches when it flipped. It was really amazing to watch.

Yes...
Best to leave this at the genus level for now. Can't quite see some details.

See reference here.

Thanks.
Interesting.

Right...
The bent images are a little frustrating (not your fault!), but this must be E. vesicularis. Only females are known.

I have it
If I can get a different image I would be happy to try.
My camera is reaching on the tiny stuff.
