Green Caterpillar - Phoebis philea

Green Caterpillar - Phoebis philea
Boca Raton, Pinelands North, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
February 4, 2007
Size: 2 1/2 inches long
This image was taken on a drizzly day. It's the only caterpillar found of this type, feeding on the plant. I have other caterpillars such as Monarchs, Queen, and the Pipevine Swallowtail. I could not find what type this one is. It has light green coloring with dark green stripes.

Watching similar caterpillars
I have been keeping watch on similar caterpillars on my Cassia tree. Just today it formed the chrysalis identified as the orange-barred sulphur. Hopefully we'll see it to maturation!

Check out
Orange Barred Sulphur - Phoebis philea, see while you wait for a definitive ID from Hannah. We think we finally have these separated in our mind. This is the one with fewer but stouter spines (we hope!)

Absolutely
- this is the classic look for Phoebis philea larvae when they feed on leaves.
