Rhaphiomidas acton - male

Rhaphiomidas acton - Male
Wash off Bob's Gap Rd., elev. ~ 1130 m, near Valyermo, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 29, 2014
Size: 25 mm bl
Following a report from Rick Rogers I went to this area today. Walked up and down the wash for 2.5 hours, just a few robberflies, some Pepsis, a couple of Ripiphorid beetles (the more common Macrosiagon), a couple of Eumenes males (look like E. bollii), a few Tiphiidae, and the high-pitched rasping of one or two cicada left over from the recent big emergence...
Anyway, VERY DRY and only spotty insect presence.
Finally, I spotted this Rhaphiomidas male in the wash. Thanks to my cooler I was able to get a few better shots.
