Twitchy blue-black wasp on buckwheat - Aporus hirsutus
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA

On California Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum var. foliolosum) in recovering coastal sage scrub at the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station. This wasp was very twitchy, and for once I had the presence of mind to switch to shutter speed priority and a faster shutter speed, so I was able to actually get some photos. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Aporus hirsutus
Note the extremely low antennal insertions and "extreme" blue refulgence.

Thanks so much! I wondered if it might be A. hirsutus. It reminded me a lot of this one, which was also on buckwheat:



This will be a new taxon for our field station invert list.
