Isopod? - Ligia

Isopod? - Ligia
Vancouver, Stanley Park, British Columbia, Canada
June 29, 2014
Size: 1/2"-1"+
These moved very quickly, it was difficult to get a picture. Almost all were this clear/yellowish colour, we saw one larger one w/dark/black? And spots but it was too fast to get a picture. Found along the rock/sea wall.

An exciting find
Most sources list L. pallasii as the only Ligia species present in British Columbia, but these have much longer uropods and generally do not match that species' appearance. The other two species present on the west coast are L. exotica and L. occidentalis, however neither has been found north of California. I'll have to take a closer look at some keys later to try to determine which species this is!
