Grubs - Strategus antaeus
St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
February 4, 2007
Size: 55-60mm
Found two grubs several inches apart in sand under a piece of metal siding. Almost equal in size and appear to be the same species. This image is of the smaller one (55mm).
Turkey oaks close by.

Strategus?
Looks identical to some Strategus aloeus grubs I'm raising at home.

They are likely S. antaeus. T
They are likely S. antaeus. They look almost identical to S. aloeus but are found in sandy areas. I found a bunch of them a few years ago when someone removed the top layer of a lawn to re-sod it.

They can be kept in sandy compost but will do a lot better if the amount of sand is less than the compost.
