Spider BG592 - Hentzia palmarum - male

Spider BG592 - Hentzia palmarum - Male
East shore of Lake St. John, on hand rail of fishing pier, Concordia Parish, Louisiana, USA
November 23, 2006
Size: body length 4.2 mm.
We collected several Salticids at the same locality and time, that we think could be various stages of Hentzia palmarum, including adult. We believe that this would be the earliest instar, followed by 94957, then 94627 and 94631 (adult). The ID of the last two has been confirmed by Jay Barnes. A photo comparing the facial and dorsal views of the four specimens may be seen here. To view at highest resolution, click on "get original uploaded photo" beneath the initial image (slow on dialup). Comments/correction/confirmation would be appreciated.

Probaby correct
I've never reared these, but based on the "hair pencils" (unique to Hentzia) and emerging pigment in the first pair of legs, the first two series are probably immature H. palmarum males.

Thanks Jay,
We are placing these two series in H. palmarum.
