Yikes!
This looks like it might be worse than a mosquito! I'll try to remember to look this up when I have more time if someone doesn't beat me to it. With the wings so clearly shown we may have enough to figure out a family.

 
Don't worry
This bugger won't bite. It is a bee fly, and reminds me of Phthiria. We had one of those before (see http://bugguide.net/node/view/8722) but this would then definitely be another species. The wing venation is very similar, but the wings in this specimen are sompletely clear.

Narrowing the field a bit more
Poecilognathus looks like the appropriate genus, based strictly on images here.
