This insect attacks eucalyptus trees. After a heavy rain - by Southern California standards - this trio and assorted friends were found under damp bark. Other inhabitants included additional such beetles, firebrats or silverfish (separate post) and some neat hairy-legged red mites. All this was under a hunk of bark about 3" square.
