broad-tipped conehead
After consulting Ethan Kistler,we decided this is a Broad-tipped Conehead (Neoconocephalus triops). They are pretty common in FL. I am amazed where you found it, wedged in that Palm like that. Your pictures are absolutley spectacular for identification and nice to look at too. It is nice to see a picture that shows the cone so well, often Neoconocephalus aren't identifiable from most peoples pictures.

Thank
you, Philip.
Almost every conehead I find in that area is hiding under dead palmetto leaves in the same manner.
I knew to get images of the cone after Patrick or Eric mentioned it under a previous image.

Philip,
There are three pages of unidentified Neoconocephalus here in the guide. Can you guys do anything with any of them? Are any so hopeless that they should be frassed?

Working on it
Ethan and I managed to work through the entire first page tonight. There were one or two we couldnt bet, but we did all we could with that page. The ones we didn't get we arent going to. Tomorrow we are going to try to work through page 2.
