male Prionus laticollis? - Prionus laticollis - Male
Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 10, 2014
Size: 1.5 in.
Came to balcony light last night. I kept him overnight to wait for better lighting for photos; he put up quite the fuss and bit me several times while I was transferring him to a container (needless to say, it hurt!). Very active, very aggressive. Took me half an hour today just to get him to sit still long enough to get these photos. I have other angles if needed. Emitted an odor that I would liken to that of beaver musk.
