Moth Parasite -- Six-legged Blood Sucker

Moth Parasite -- Six-legged Blood Sucker
Mayreau, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
My friend Father Mark de Silva is a priest-naturalist in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and has asked for assistance in identifying as far as possible the 6-legger critter found on many moths there. They act like mites in our area. Fr. de Silva has already published a couple of natural histories of the Grenadines and is still working on the moths and other insects. If the insect shown here does not occur in North America these photos may be frassed.

Moved
Moved from Acariformes.

Still might be mites
Many mites don't have eight legs for their entire life-cycle- six legs doesn't automatically rule them out.
