Two gypsy moths getting to know one another - Lymantria dispar - Male Female
Bethel, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA
July 14, 2014
Size: 1.5 inches
Female gypsy moth on the left recently hatched (we saw the remains of the caterpillar husk). Several males have been trying to get in out house to say "hi" to her. This one succeeded. Didn't recognize them for what they were at first. Going to have to put a stop to this.
