unknown micromoth - Thaumatographa youngiella

unknown micromoth - Thaumatographa youngiella
Lantzville, Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
July 15, 2014
Size: 6mm long
Found on a blackberry leaf in mixed Douglas Fir, Arbutus, Red Alder forest.

I cannot find anything like this moth even though it seems pretty distinctive. I might be looking in completely the wrong area so any clues (or guesses) greatly appreciated.

Moved from ID Request to new guide page.

Glad to get species confirmation, great addition to the guide!

Not an expert
But looks like a great match for Thaumatographa youngiella. This would be the first live photo of that species if so.

See pinned specimens from BOLD here and live photos of the related but much brighter eastern species Thaumatographa jonesi here. Hopefully an expert can weigh in, since this would be a new one for BugGuide.

Thanks Chris
Thanks Chris that looks good. No wonder I could not find a match here on on MPG which was surprising for something so stunning. Lucky find I guess

I just noticed here that the location of a lectotype is only 10km from where I found this one.

Larger images than can be see at BOLD are here at EOL

id confirmed
Jason J. Dombroskie was kind enough to look at these images and concurs with the identification.

Needs new species page
