I see you have edited the title
To make sense of the previous comments, I should mention this was previously titled Zebra Swallowtail and placed in that section of the guide. The new title, Silk Moth Cocoon, is also inaccurate, however. This image is of a moth pupa with no cocoon around it. Without a size, it may not be possible to take this any further. You might like to delete this for that reason - only you can do so, editors can only move images to Frass.

I did not take this image so
I did not take this image so I have no idea of the size of the pupa. I did however see the original image and it appeared to be about 2 inches in length. I thought perhaps it was a sphinx moth of some sort. if nothing else develops with the ID on this I will send it off to "frass"

The difference is...
Frassing means it will sit there for 30 days. After all the bizarre moves this image has taken already, I thought you might prefer to delete and be done with it. : )

I don't mean to sound silly,
I don't mean to sound silly, but are you saying this is a zebra swallowtail, or that is is something else and mistakenly identified as a a zebra?

Definitely not a Zebra Swallowtail
we now even have an excellent image of that species' chrysalis for comparison (below), should it be necessary to convince anyone. Swallowtails do not pupate in the ground. Why is this placed in the Zebra Swallowtail section?

Moving to Moths pending further explanation.

Wrong superfamily
Surely an accidental placement.
