Squash bug with Tachinid egg? - Anasa tristis

Squash bug with Tachinid egg? - Anasa tristis
Beavercreek, Greene County, Ohio, USA
July 14, 2014
I presume this is Anasa tristis - Squash Bug. Is that a Tachinid egg (or two?) attached above the left rear leg? I often see Trichopoda pennipes flies in my yard. Photographed on 'New England Pie' Pumpkin.

Yes…
This does appear to be A. tristis. It's quite possible that T. pennipes, a tachinid which you mentioned you have seen, may have parasitized this bug.

See reference here.

Thank you
for the confirmation, Ross.
