Explanation of Names
Author is Bigot, 1892. Species name
aterrimus is Latin, meaning ink-like in colour, i.e., black (
Dictionary of Entomology).
Size
Length 13 mm, wingspan 34 mm (guide photos)
Identification
Only widespread eastern Anthrax with dark, unpatterned wings--see comments here:
Range
Widespread in east: Connecticut to Florida, west to Arkanasas, Louisiana.
