Antlion: Myrmeleon - Myrmeleon

Antlion: Myrmeleon - Myrmeleon
Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia, USA
July 31, 2006
This is a larval antlion I'm currently keeping. (I call him Bruce B. Bug). He had been inactive for months through the winter, (probably diapausing?), but yesterday I saw a blip in the sand, sifted him out, and discovered he is again active. I guess it's time for me to start looking for ants!

Hi Hillary,
Welcome to bugguide. I've unlinked your images since only shots of the same individual (or in some cases the same *group* of individuals) are supposed to be linked.

Thanks!
I was just now trying to figure out why everything was showing up as a moth. My first post (a long time ago) was a moth and I'm a bit rusty. I can't remember how to get the correct identification up there.

I noticed you had posted this image as "linked" to your previous submission of a moth:

The linkage feature is supposed to be used for images of the same individual, so I unlinked them.

Also, since you know this is a Myrmeleon I moved it to the correct area for that genus--it was placed under Moths. If you ever have trouble placing something, do a search on the genus name--that will usually get you to the correct area. (Searches on a full Latin binomial do not always work due to the structure of the database.)
