Hope #2: Is this a flesh fly (Sarco*phaga sp.)?

Hope #2: Is this a flesh fly (Sarco*phaga sp.)?
Irvine Park, Orange, Orange County, California, USA

I'm learning to ID this species, I hope. The eye on this one doesn't look normal, but I'd still say flesh fly. Is that right?

Moved from Flesh Flies.

Moved from Flies.

Sarcophagidae yes, Sarcophaga no
One example of a flesh fly not belonging to Sarcophaga, but to one of the very many other genera of this family. This "conventional" fly lacks the peculiar robust legs and body proportion of genus Sarcophaga.

Thanks, I thought it looked a little weak legged.
With your help, it's beginning to sink in.

Can you tell if the eye is normal or damaged?
