Found in my basement. - Neocurtilla hexadactyla
Paw Paw, Van Buren County, Michigan, USA
July 22, 2014
Size: roughly 2"
We just moved into this house. It sits very close to a natural pond, and the surrounding area is regulated wetlands. This bug was crawling through my basement and I could HEAR it walk. When I caught it in the bowl, the clicking of the feet was much louder (I do realize it's because it was in a plastic bowl. lol I simply included that as a reference to it's size).

a northern mole cricket, nice!
Moved from ID Request.

Thanks!
Thank you for identifying it for us! Should I assume that it will come back in shortly? (I tossed it outside amid the screams of my famiy.)

Thanks again!

probably not
They live in wet soil and feed on plant roots, so it probably just got into your basement by accident. You can read more about them here
