Size: body length 18.6 mm.
We have identified this as Xenox tigrinus in the family Bombyliidae.

good representative photos of this species are here: 1and 2). Also, tigrinus is the only species in this genus listed for Louisiana (Evenhuis, WorldCat (1)).
