Size: 2-3mm
There are two dipterans engorged with hemolymph on this Eastern pondhawk, one on top of the thorax to the left of the base of the right forewing, and the other below the base of the left hindwing. Are these ceratopogonids? Perhaps Forcipomyia?

Looks like...
There might be a third 'adornment', between the head and thorax. It could be a young Predaceous Diving Beetle, but we cannot verify that from this image. see here
