Holland, Pipestone County, Minnesota, USA
Size: 22mm
I believe this is Staphylinus badipes. Quite common in our area as well as in southeast South Dakota, definately the largest of the Staphylinidae in the area. Caught May 2005.

Not Staphylinus badipes
Staphylinus badipes (by the way, the name has been changed for Dinothenarus badipes) is totally black with legs red. This one mostly look like a Platydracus sp..
