Dermestid beetle larva - Attagenus

Dermestid beetle larva - Attagenus
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
February 28, 2007
Size: about 8 mm
I believe this is a dermestid beetle larva (found inside). Is it possible to identify it any further?

Moved
Moved from Carpet Beetles.

I think: Attagenus
. . . very elongate body with long hair tuft on tail, otherwise with rather short hairs, is characteristic for that genus. 8mm is a little big, though (6mm, body only, would be o.k.).

cheers, Boris

Yes
It could be Dermestes. If so, there should be some small upcurved urogomphi (tail hooks), difficult to detect from this angle.

Yes
Thanks, Jim.
