Size: 4.5 cm
These beetles were fairly common at night. As soon as the sun ducked under the dunes, thousands of Tenebs, mostly Eleodes, became active. Could hardly take a step without squishing one!

yes
from the angle in the image, I am quite sure that it is acuta. I do have some specimens of suturalis that I took from out there and will eventually post them for comparision.
