American Dog Tick - Dermacentor variabilis - Male

I saw an insect and was focusing on it when a jogger brushed past me on the narrow trail. I managed to get the photo, but the insect disappeared as the jogger bumped the plant where the insect was perched. When I got the image in the computer and saw what I had, I pitied the jogger! But not a lot.
