Vespula sulphurea

Vespula sulphurea
1.7 mi. NNW of Antelope Fire Control Station, Willow Springs, San Benito County, California, USA
July 29, 2014
Size: 14mm length
Went back to our spring a week after photographing this guy , to find that they are still seeking water there. In in year of normal rainfall, the area is a relatively dry area, and this year with the drought, it is really dry, so the spring is one of the few sources of surface water for wildlife in the area.
